How does food get from the allotment or farm to the plate? Muraldesign explains through paint...

Muraldesign undertook its largest mural to date (22 metres long) to educate children at a primary school about how food grows and then how it ends up on a plate. The mural shows details of an allotment with children planting seeds, watering plants and a boy fetching eggs that the chickens have laid. Cross to the other side of the mural and a farmer is shown milking a cow, pigs are in the field, the corn is being harvested in the field and honey bees are buzzing out of their beehive. As your eye moves around the mural the farm scene moves to a tractor taking produce to a factory and then a Farmers Market is featured showing the school's chef selecting produce. The final stage of the mural shows a pizza being prepared by a chef with produce from the farm and allotment then a pizza oven depicts the pizza being cooked. Finally on the doors into the kitchen a girl and boy in school uniform are shown eating pizza and salad that has been prepared for them. Certainly this mural tells a story as there are lots of different elements which brings the theme altogether.
